Ipswich BS Silver Championship show 2023

Best in Show Pied Cinnamon Sky Blue Hen

Steve & Bill Squires Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex in show

This year’s show was held at the usual venue at Great Blakenham Village hall on Sunday 30th July.

The Evening before the usual gang of volunteers attended to put up the staging and make sure everything was ready for the mornings show. Not surprisingly the same crew also stayed late after the show to put away all the staging and make good the hall. These shows can only happen because of the time put in by these members.

The goal for this year’s show was to stage more than 300 entries. This would enable the show to retain its status as a Silver show for next year. Over 400 entries were received, and it turned out that over 320 birds were exhibited securing next year’s silver show. Our thanks go to those exhibitors that brought those extra birds they might not otherwise had done.

The morning went very well and thanks to the smooth running of the paperwork and booking in process. The judging was brought forward and began early. Judges this year was Beverly Hutt, her daughter Laura O’Reilly and Chris Snell. Judging took several hours culminating in the major and section awards

Congratulations go to our members Champion status Steve and Bill Squires Partnership, for winning the best in show and Best Opposite sex Awards. The best in show was a magnificent Pied Cinnamon Sky Blue Hen. The best opposite sex was a normal Grey Cock.

At the conclusion of the show Ghalib the Society Chairman thanked all those who supported the show and in particular those members that had helped to assist in the smooth running and the setting up for the show, the taking down, the catering and the office paperwork. Who  all worked hard to make the show successful and enjoyable for all those who attended.
