Peter Stevens
The Society is very sad to announce to passing of Peter Stevens. Peter was a magnificent supporter of the Club. He will be much missed by our members. Our thoughts are with Sandra and his family at this time.
Peter (born 1943) was a stockman through and through, Racing pigeons from the age of 13.The keeping of birds was always part of his life, eventually leading him to run his own egg laying chicken farm business from 1987.
In 2010 Budgerigars began to feature heavily in Peter and Sandra’s lives. Starting modestly with a few birds from Fred Wright and then joining the Ipswich Budgerigar Society and the BS Their stud soon quickly grew and developed under Peters watchful eye.
Peter brought so much to the hobby, He was always willing and keen to get involved in club life. He was always part of the clubs activities. His presence at all the local budgie shows will be greatly missed. It was at these shows that Peters nature truly shone/Always chatting to everyone he was friend to many exhibitors and a great showman He entered the hobby with one big ambition: to win a CC. This and so much more, He and Sandra went on to achieve.
He was quick to recognise the birds that helped him develop what became a solid consistently winning stud
There is so much more that could be written about Peter. On Behalf of all his friends in the Hobby ,he will be deeply missed – But his birds will endure under the care of his wife Sandra and all those other breeders who acquired birds from Peter.
