September 2021 Meeting

The meeting was well attended with 21 members and 1 guest Speaker

Prior to the introduction of the guest speaker for the evening. The chairman Bill kept club matters to a minimum. Firstly it was congratulations to Bill Hewitt a long standing member for his 80th birthday this month.

 

Also a report was made regarding the joint Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds Open show held on the 25th September. Show manager Ghalib Al-Nasser made a point of thanking all those who assisted in the smooth running of the show and thought it was a real tem effort. Congrats were made for Ghalib and Janice who won best in show.

Bill then introduced Phil Reaney, the current B.S President to the members with the following…

Phil joined the BS in 1973 originally from Yorkshire he now lives in Lincoln. Phil is a international judge and has judged all around the world. He is a exhibitor and has won many awards over the years.

Phil spent 20 minutes explaining all about the new plastic show cages and how resilient they were. He then began his presentation which centred around the theme “WHAT CAN WE DO TO IMPROVE THE HOBBY “He gave his thoughts on a number of subjects, including, having shows later in the year, reducing challenge Certificates, reducing show paperwork, More exposure to gain new members, joint club staging, more realistic membership fees, reducing the amount of rosettes. Phil then took questions from the members and soon after that the meeting was closed.

The club thanked Phil for his attendance and presentation.
