Lincolnshire & East Anglia Budgerigar Society Specialist and Rare Variety Open Show Incorporating the BS Eastern Colour Budgerigar Show.

Ipswich BS hosted  the above show on Saturday 7th October at Risby Bury St Edmunds

The usual  members arrived at 0900 and set up the hall and staging.All was ready to judge  by 1200.However on this occasion a new format for the show was used.Members then went for a nice fish and chip lunch.At the conclusion of lunch the birds were then judged.Again a different format was used.The birds were judged on the main staging and were not moved.This worked out very well as minimum stewards were required.The remaining members were then treated to a presentation by Mr Terheege.This was well received and resulted in a lively discussion about the direction of the hobby in particular the large oversize heavy feathered types of budgerigars that were wining shows but perhaps now not being as well received as they were due to infertility and life expectancy issues. 

At the conclusion of the presentation members then went back into the main hall to see the remaining of the judging.

Some members did exceptionally well,of note was the Al-Nasser partnership with 10CC’s  6 in the main stream and 4 in the colour budgies and  10 best Young birds ,surely a record for this year   an Exceptional effort by the partnership well done to them .

TO ALL EXHIBITORS AND HELPERS AT THE LEA S&RV SHOW

As Chairman and on behalf of the Ipswich B.S. committee I would like to thank the LEA for granting us the opportunity to stage their specialist & rare variety show yesterday. I would also like to thank you, the exhibitors, for supporting the show with your magnificent entry of 297 with a benched figure of 217 from 22 exhibitors.

I think the show went extremely well and was most enjoyable. Thanks also to Trevor Terheege for his presentation. We tried a new format for the show by starting very late and hit a few snags from which we have learnt for the future if we should host the event again on behalf of the LEA.

My special thanks to the judges (Sue & Brian), to the speaker (Trevor), to the show office staff (Janice, Sharon, Rod & Carl), the Kitchen staff (Sandra & Marg) and my assistant Graham and all the helpers to put the staging up and dismantling and the stewards.
